CONSTANTMESH (ROADRANGER) GEARBOX

NO RTA TRUCK DRIVING TEST REQUIRED
- Any 3 axle prime mover towing a 2 axle trailer with a GVM of more than 9 tonnes.
- Any 3 axle rigid motor vehicle towing a two axle trailer with a GVM of more than 9 tonnes.
- Ideal for interstate work, heavy haulage, demolition companies (using truck and dog combinations).
What you need to get your HC (Constantmesh) Licence
- You need to have held a class MR or HR Licence for 12 months or more.
- Pass an RTA HC Knowledge Test ($37 RTA fee)
- Pass an RTA Eyesight test
- At that time ask for a CBA (Competency Based Assessment) Logbook and CBA guide book. ($22 RTA fee)
- Contact ABC driving school on 9635 1300 to book your 2 day HC Constantmesh course. Please have your Log Book with you when you call, as there are details within the Log Book which we require for processing your booking.
- A $400 deposit is required to secure and confirm your booking.
- FAIR GO POLICY – At ABC driving school Parramatta we realise that the
cost of the HC course appears to be quite high. However, UNLIKE many other
driving schools we do not ask for full payment up-front. The $400 deposit is
like a safety net. Once you have received four hundred dollars-worth of
training, you and your instructor will discuss your progress and possible
options.
- Option 1 – continue training and complete within the originally quoted 16 hours at $125 per hour - total cost $2000.
- Option 2 – if you can already competently drive a Constantmesh (Roadranger) gearbox, we will discuss reducing the estimated number of hours required to complete the course – total cost less than $2000.
- Option 3 – recognise that for you, 16 hours may not be enough, and you may choose to continue at $125 per hour until you meet the course requirements - total cost greater than $2000.
- Option 4 – recognise that for you, the Roadranger gearbox is proving to be more difficult to master than you had anticipated. You may choose to transfer to our HC Synchromesh model and acquire a Heavy Combination Licence with a ‘B Restriction’ (for details see our HC Synchromesh webpage) - total cost $2000.
- Option 5 – if you choose to do so, you are welcome to stop the course at this point, and incur no further costs. $400 is all you pay.

ABC DRIVING SCHOOL PARRAMATTA
- The $400 deposit is non-refundable if you cancel without 72 hours notice.
After successfully finishing the course, return to your local RTA and exchange your completed Logbook for your upgraded Licence. ($22 RTA fee)
- No RTA truck driving test required.
- MUST HAVE CURRENT Heavy Vehicle driving experience.
- NOTE: Red P1 and Green P Plate holders are not eligible to apply for a HC Licence.
Course Cost
- Class HC (constantmesh) is charged at only $125.00 per hour.
Two day course (2x8 hours) total $2000.00 (15-speed Roadranger constant mesh gearbox)
- Note: If you can already drive a Roadranger gearbox, it may be possible to reduce the duration of the HC course. Each hour that we can reduce the course will save you $125.00, please contact us for more information.
