• Any 3 axle prime mover towing a 2 axle trailer with a GVM of more than 9 tonnes.
• Any 3 axle rigid motor vehicle towing a two axle trailer with GVM of more than 9 tonnes.
• Ideal for interstate work, heavy haulage, demolition companies (using truck and dog combinations).
• Extensively used by large fleet operators with modern vehicles. Eg Linfox, Toll, Star Track Express.

HC Synchromesh trucks are fitted with Synchromesh gearboxes. This gearbox type is common in later model (less than 10 years old) HC class vehicles and is similar to driving a manual car. You will also be able to drive automatic HC vehicles with this licence upgrade. Please note that licences acquired using vehicles that are fitted with a Synchromesh or Automatic gearbox will be endorsed with a “condition B” restriction - (may only drive Automatic or Synchromesh gearbox).

THIS IS BECOMING COMMONPLACE FOR A HC LICENCE HOLDER. It will not restrict or limit your ability to drive HR synchromesh, MR, LR or class C vehicles.

NOTE: If you already hold an unrestricted HR Licence, you can upgrade using the HC Synchromesh vehicle and you will be issued with an unrestricted HC licence as your Roadranger entitlement will remain valid.

• 2010 model vehicle fitted with a 9 speed EATON gearbox is available.
• You have more time on the course to develop your road and reversing skills without the added stress of the Roadranger (constantmesh) gearbox.
• Our experience has shown us that trainees with class C, manual, car driving experience are more easily able to master this gearbox than double-declutching a Roadranger (constantmesh) gearbox.
• Very commonly found in European trucks as production/use of Roadranger (constantmesh) is steadily declining.

What you need to get your HC Licence

• You need to have held a class MR or HR Licence for one year or more.
• Must have current manual driving experience.
• Pass an RTA HC Knowledge Test (class HC) ($38 RTA fee)
• Pass an RTA Eyesight test
• At that time ask for a CBA (Competency Based Assessment) log book and CBA guide book. ($23 RTA fee)

• A $400 deposit is required to secure and confirm your booking.
• This deposit will be deducted from the total course cost of $1350. This is non-refundable if you cancel without 72 hours notice OR are assessed and found not to have current manual experience.
• Please note additional hours (if required), beyond the one day course are charged at $135 per hour.
• After successfully finishing the course, return to your local RTA and exchange your completed Logbook for your upgraded Licence. (No RTA truck driving test required).
• MUST HAVE CURRENT Heavy Vehicle driving experience.
• NOTE: Red P1 and Green P Plate holders are not eligible to apply for an HC Licence.
